On behalf of Eurovent Market Intelligence (EMI), Yannick Cotrelle attended the SIFA exhibition on 8 November 2022. With an impressive number of people in the audience, he made a presentation on CO2 Refrigeration Systems.
To start, he introduced the EMI activities for those who are not familiar, underlining that EMI has more than 400 participants in the statistics collections and about a minimum of overall 80% of market coverage. He explained the participation process to the statistics collections, stressing the point that the whole process is strictly confidential. He also mentioned the Market Intelligence Committees that EMI holds twice a year to get the feedback and suggestions of the participants in order to develop the statistics collections.
After a short presentation of the number of participants in each annual collection, he explained that EMI has launched a new data collection on the CO2 Refrigeration Systems due to the absence of reliable market data related to this product group. The first EMI data collection concerning CO2 Refrigeration Systems has been organised in 2022 on the sales made in 2021, covering mainly CO2 Condensing Units and Racks. CO2 Condensing Units have a split of temperature (low and medium) and capacity (below or above 10 kW) while CO2 Racks are split as transcritical and subcritical along with the capacity (below or above 200 kW). There is also a vertical market split for both CO2 Condensing Units and Racks, investigating whether the units are being sold to OEM, or to an end user for either industrial or commercial refrigeration purposes.
He also explained that the importance of CO2 units in warm climate countries is also increasing in 2022 according to the latest survey that EMI conducted. Indeed, regarding the country trends, Western Europe countries are leading the European CO2 market. He also mentioned that CO2 units are also impacted by the ongoing component shortage. He ended his presentation by displaying the market trends for main European countries and invited the manufacturers of the CO2 units to take part in the statistics collections for more detailed market data.
New data collections will be launched in January 2023 with a deadline in mid-February. Interested manufacturers may contact us at statistics@eurovent-marketintelligence.eu to get the collection template and/or for further information.
